Abstract
Several locally most powerful rank tests of scale are derived which are associated either with the SAVAGE-test or with the WILCOXON-test. Besides the general two-sample scale problem the cases of positive and of symmetric random variables are considered. The tests are compared with each other and with the variance ratio F-test by means of ARE.
