Abstract
Our friend and colleague Wolfgang Friedmann was one of the first lawyers to draw the attention of the academic world to those new entities in international relations which are so much now in the public eye — the international and multinational (or transnational) corporations and enterprises. The first item mentioned in a bibliography which I recently prepared for a graduate student seminar on multinationals refers to an article published in the Modern Law Review thirty years ago by Wolfgang Friedmann.1 Probably one of his last publications on the subject appears in the International Encyclopedia of Comparative Law.2
