Abstract

THE Antioch expedition, in which the Worcester Museum, the Baltimore Museum, Princeton University and the Louvre are cooperating, has recently excavated a Roman villa. Here a floor mosaic was found including the figures of a Satyr and a Bacchante which are now part of the Baltimore Museum's permanent collection. “The artist who designed these panels was, no doubt, a Greek who continued good Hellenistic traditions,” and the style places his work in the 1st century A. D.
