Abstract

SUMMARY Hybrids of Eucalytptus viminalis with E. bridgesiana, E. cinerea, and E. rubida are described. The distinctive character of the juvenile foliage of each species in comparison with E. viminclis makes the hybrid state of the suspect quickly evident when seedlings are raised. Three kinds of hybrid population are described, viz.: 1. A segregating swarm in which all combinations are viable and in which many combinations of parental characters occur2. A segregating swarm in which most intermediate combinations are not viable3. A probable polymorphic population in which the amplitude of variation is reduced.
