Abstract

Cast iron is a complex system comprising about ten elements that determine the properties of the interphase and intergrain boundaries, and the specific features of the crystal structure of the matrix and nonmetallic inclusions. One way of solving the problem of crystallization of nonmetallic inclusions in cast iron and the mechanism of formation of composite metastable carbides consists in investigating the special features of the distribution of chemical elements in various phases. The present work is part of a complex studyaimed at obtaining cast irons with a specified composition in order to determine nonmetallic inclusions synthesized as a result of shock compression.
