Abstract
Disordered crystals have been of current interests because they possess both advantages of laser glass and ordered crystals in spectral and thermal properties. Several disordered laser crystals, such as Nd-doped calcium niobium gallium garnet (CNGG), calcium lithium niobium gallium garnet (CLNGG) and melilite ABC3O7, were grown by the Czchralski method and their thermal, spectral and laser properties were investigated. With the disordered crystals as gain materials, the ultrafast lasers were obtained, which indicated that the disordered laser crystals should be potential candidates for the ultrafast laser materials required in some fields.
