Abstract

Summary: Twenty samples were examined for keratinophilic fungi using the hair-baiting ToKaVa method. Nine samples of soil and one of animal faeces were sprinkled with sterile hair, whilst 10 specimens of keratinised material were placed on sterilised soil. Fifteen species were found of which 4 were dermatophytes, and 7 recorded for the first time in Denmark. Neither zoo- nor anthropophilic dermatophytes were found, and none of the fungi have been recorded as having caused human mycoses in Denmark.
