Abstract

On the basis of the two-fluid model four different cases are considered in which stationary temperature gradients are set up in 4He and in dilute solutions of 3He in 4He below the λ-temperatures. The cases under consideration are: a temperature gradient parallel to a narrow slit and a temperature gradient perpendicular to a boundary, both for the pure 4He and for the dilute solutions. Provisional formulae are given which seem to describe the data adequately. New experimental data will be confronted with the formulae in a separate paper.
