Abstract
ONE of the most challenging aspects of a career in electronics is how to deal with the deluge of technical information that crosses the average engineer's desk on a daily basis. The technical publications industry is impressive in its ability to ferret out the latest and greatest developments and to present these in weekly doses, which must gladden the heart of the pulp and paper industry and its associated offspring. Recently, through the introduction of some new test and measurement instruments for our fledgling company, I have come to appreciate the competitiveness and the special expertise of people in the technical publications industry and to better understand how this system makes a living through the services provided to its reader/advertiser constituency. This industry serves a most important need of disseminating timely information and is no less a factor in the speed and pervasiveness of the electronics revolution than individual corporate or research accomplishments such as the latest RISC processor.
