Abstract

In this research, an experiment was carried out to separate cobalt from artificial nickel sulfate solution containing cobalt ions by solvent extraction method using organic solvent 2-ethythexyl phosponic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester (PC-88A). The experiment was carried out on a laboratory scale. The experimental variables observed included the acidity of the solution (pH), shaking time, shaking speed, and ratio of aqueous and organic (A/O) volume and concentration of PC-88A extractant. The experimental results showed that at pH 6 as much as 95.68% of cobalt could be extracted with the PC-88A.
