Abstract

The solvation process of the trapped electron in polar liquids is investigated within the framework of the Tachiya–Mozumder model of pre-existing traps. The orientation of the molecular dipoles and the energy level of the electron are calculated, in a quasistationary approximation, as a function of time after the electron is localized in a pre-existing trap. An estimate of the solvation time is provided.
