Abstract

The formation of the solvated electron in acetonitrile has been observed by pulse radiolysis and by flash photolysis of solutions of N, N, N′, N′-tetramethyl phenylenediamine and indole in acetonitrile. Addition of biphenyl and carbon tetrachloride provides evidence of scavengeable electrons in the solutions.
