Abstract

Two microwave electronic devices—carsinotrodes studied by V.A. Solntsev and two-section M-type devices proposed by I.V. Lebedev—are compared. It is shown that, in both types of the devices, a modulated electron bunch is ejected into the space where electrons interact with the electromagnetic field through modulation of the cathode electron emission. It is noted that M-type devices can provide for high parameters of microwave amplifiers; unfortunately, at present, no research oriented to the further improvement of these devices is carried out.
