Abstract

AbstractNonlinear effects caused by the interaction of an exciton with phonons in deformable molecular chains are considered in the second‐neighbour approximation. The cubic anharmonicity of the intermolecular potential leads to a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlinearities of third and fifth power with respect to the function. Two types of solitary bound states are shown to appear situated at the bottom and the top of the exciton energy band, respectively. The parameters of the solitary excitations are calculated.
