Abstract

Differential potentiometric sensors containing two chemically ‘orthogonal’ ion-selective membranes have been constructed and tested. The all-solid-state construction was made possible by the use of reversible solid membrane contacts, such as a newly developed AgAgFz.sbnd;LaF 3 contact for use with LaF 3 membranes. Satisfactory noise immunity in the signal transmission was achieved by integrating preamplification circuitry within the sensor body. These sensor can be used in different detection modes, depending on the choice of membranes and buffer solutions.
