Abstract
The influence of high-current density nitrogen implantation on the microstructure of α-iron and molybdenum type high speed steel was investigated. It has been demonstrated that ion beam treatment dramatically changes the microstructure of both materials. In the case of steel, ion treatment resulted in amorphization of the surface.
