Abstract
This paper proposes a reliable and cost effective solution for an uninterruptable and full volume of water supply. The PV array power is a primary source of energy whereas the battery energy storage (BES) acts as a backup source. The charging and discharging control of BES system is incorporated by the bidirectional control of a buck-boost converter. Whereas, the optimization of PV array is achieved with the help of an improved perturb and observation (P&O) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control through proposed modified Cuk converter. Both the modified Cuk converter and bidirectional buck-boost converter are working in continuous inductor current (CIC) mode to reduce the stress on their components. Moreover, the fundamental switching of the mid-point converter makes the overall system efficient and eliminates the necessity of any current sensors on the motor side. Test results of the proposed system obtained on a developed prototype and their sound agreement with the Matlab/Simulink modeling based simulated results, validate the aptness of the developed system in real-time environment.
