Abstract

A selective type solar collector-sky radiator is proposed in which acts as a solar collector at daytime and as a sky radiator at night. Main results obtained from the verification experiment are as follows: (1) It is confirmed that SCR acts as SC at daytime and as SR at night. (2) Its collective efficiency is lower than that of conventional SC. (3) SCR is better than NSCR for heating fluid warmer and cooling fluid cooler. (4) However, the radiative efficiency difference between SCR and NSCR is not large. (5) The maximum net collective and radiative fluxes obtained in all the experiments are 610 and 51 W/m/sup 2/, respectively, for SCR. Since one of the causes for result (2) is the polyethylene cover, high heat resistive and durable cover materials should be developed in future.
