Abstract
Protective heat-resistance coatings for silicon-carbide materials were synthesized on the basis of compositions in the system Y2O3–Al2O3–SiO2 by the sol-gel method. A procedure for preparing sol-gel solutions was worked out. The effect of the component ratio in the initial solutions on the physical-chemical properties of the solutions themselves and the gels obtained from them was studied, and phase-formation processes during their heat-treatment were studied. It was shown that sintered materials with a wide spectrum of ceramic properties can be obtained.
