Abstract

AbstractCourseware development should follow the lessons learned by the misnamed software engineers during the last twelve years. Many of these lessons are presented as twenty-eight principles of software development in this paper. The most important include a stress on human readability, the importance of early planning and analysis, the use of hierarchical structure, the need for independent evaluation, and the need to be flexible.
