Abstract

Japan's producers of structural PM parts, bearings, and other type of PM components enter the 1990s in a mood of optimism following a decade of high growth rates, continuing advances in the development of new products, improved quality and higher levels of productivity. Bernard Williams recently spent two weeks visiting PM part and powder producers, and the following reports in this special issue represent his reflections on the state-of- the-art of the PM industry in Japan today.
