Abstract

bone loss of 1.06 mm / 0.50 mm. All of the patients present healthy soft tissues with stable probing depth and good BOP values after 1 year. Some biological and mechanical complications were recorded in one patient, who suffered fibular reconstruction fracture on a distal implant, 15 days after loading. The implant was removed and the fracture was reduced and rigidly fixed with local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Conclusion: Implant-based dental restorations in maxillary or mandibular reconstructions with free-flaps have been shown to confer many benefits. Unfortunately, many problems arise with the planning of an implant-based prosthesis in that kind of patient. We believe that these difficulties can be reduced by adopting a computer-assisted implant surgery protocol. From our still preliminary results, this study seems to confirm the possibility to achieve the best prosthetic restoration, even in these complex reconstructions.
