Abstract

The article concerns the peculiarities of the political humour and satire within the framework of the contemporary Italian political culture. Due to the political crisis of the late 20th century the image of the Italian politicians has undergone severe alterations, being associated with negative stereotypes. Referring to the political humour and satire, the Italians endeavour to control the political power, reveal the government`s inefficiency and its discrepancy with the nation`s values and ideals. Appealing to the example of the political cartoons dedicated to the former Prime Minister of Italy M. Renzi, the author defines the influence of the sociocultural factors and regional features on the contemporary political humour and political culture of Italy.
