Abstract

The article presents important factors that determine the importance of the formation of foreign-language ethno-cultural competence in high school. The modern legislative framework is presented. The main directions of patriotic education of high school students reflected in state documents are analysed. The author considers the psychological and pedagogical features of adolescence, which make it possible to effectively build the process of forming patriotic qualities and ethno-cultural skills of students. It is concluded that it is possible and necessary for young people to acquire the peculiarities of their own culture by means of a foreign language in order to form a civic identity, strengthen traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, and confront Russophobia in the world.
