Abstract

The study investigated social and economic factors influencing the implementation of community development projects in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. Three null hypotheses were formulated and tested and a sample of two hundred (200) respondents were drawn from the population of two thousand (2,000) respondents. The research design adopted was the ex-post facto research design. The sampling technique adopted for this study was the simple random sampling technique. The main instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. Independent t-test analysis was employed for data analyses and results tested at .05 level of significance. The result showed that there was significant influence of literacy, funding, cultural beliefs on the implementation of community development projects in the study area. These findings formed the basis of the recommendations made that, Government should embark on literacy programmes in the various communities in the study area as the main option for the uneducated and semi-educated among others.
