Pottery artisans hold a significant place as their artistic creations signify the culture, tradition, and history of the country. The pottery industries provide various opportunities like employment generation, increasing exports, etc. The study attempted to investigate the present status of the socio-economic conditions of the pottery artisans in Delhi and Haryana. Another objective of the study was to analyse the range of challenges faced by pottery artisans in the study area. The study aimed to provide actionable recommendations that can contribute to the growth, preservation and empowerment of pottery artisans. Primary data were used in the study. Snowball stratified random sampling was used in the study. Various indexes were constructed to identify the key challenges faced. The study showed that the pottery industry was suffering from competition, followed by an irregular supply of raw materials and quality issues. Government and non-government organisations can solve the problem and help grow and develop this particular industry.
