Abstract

The achievement of a social work identity, competence, and autonomy is often problematic for the practitioner in health care. An acological perspective can contribute to their development because of its congruence with the profession's social purpose, definition, and value-theory-skill component. Selected aspects of an ecological practice approach are described.
