Abstract
There is a close relationship between public and personal ownership under socialism. Socialist ownership of the means of production and the nature of the coupling of the work force to the means of production determine relations in production, distribution, exchange, and consumption—in all elements of the reproduction process in the national economy. Public ownership of the basic means of production under socialism forms personal ownership of consumer goods through the distribution system. The personal household plot (PHP) is a component part and special type of personal property under socialism. The socialist nature of the PHP is determined by socialist production relations and by the participation of the PHP in the reproduction of the social production work force's means of subsistence and incomes and in the creation of the nation's food stocks.
