Abstract

This present study seeks to investigate college students’ social media usage behaviors. Data were collected from 109 freshman students at a selected public university through an online survey. Results demonstrated that respondents had used social media platforms for about 7.49 years. The average time spent daily on social media application was 8.23 hours. This study also revealed that this group of college students frequently used social media during the evening. For the highest use social media platform, the majority of these respondents used Facebook as a primary application followed by Instagram and YouTube. In addition, the primary purpose of social media usage among these college students was for entertainment. Limitations and research applications were also discussed
