Abstract

Based on the results of previous studies on social capital, this study aims to propose and test a theoretical model of the relationship between social capital, knowledge sharing and innovation capacity for production activities of farmer households in Ben Tre province. The survey was carried out using a questionnaire to collect data by convenient sampling method. The study collected 263 questionnaires from farmer households in 4 districts of Chau Thanh, Binh Dai, Thanh Phu and Ba Tri in Ben Tre province. The hypotheses of the research model are verified by the linear structural model (SEM) through the software SPSS and AMOS. Research results show that Social interaction ties, Trust, Reciprocity and Shared goals all have an impact on Knowledge collecting and Knowledge donating of farm households. In addition, Knowledge collecting and Knowledge donating both have a positive effect on the Innovation capacity of farm households. With the obtained results, the study proposes policy implications for expanding social capital through the structure of social networks and the quality of social networks in order to enhance the ability of farmer households to innovate activities in Ben Tre province.
