Abstract

We understand that controversies about the relationship between society and nature, nowadays, usually resultin simplistic conclusions, due to the fact that the strategy employed, that is to discuss such a relationshipwith the creation of new technologies, does not verify the reasons for exacerbated consumption of naturalresources. However, the adoption of concepts, such as sustainable development, can be linked to a largercapital appropriation process. The appropriation of the idea of sustainable development by the capitalist modeof production has corrupted expectations since it was pronounced.

74 Sobre o discurso ideológico do desenvolvimento sustentável e a reprodução do modo capitalista. Este artigo está elaborado na perspectiva de interpretar a relação entre a sociedade e a natureza sob o enfoque do desenvolvimento sustentável, que a nosso ver pode estar sendo mascarada por um discurso ideológico reducionista em que as bases estruturais que conduzem a sociedade ao consumo ilimitado, inclusive de recursos naturais, não são consideradas.
