Abstract

The pioneering work of Sandor Ferenczi laid the groundwork for the relational theory and has had a profound impact on my work with traumatized children, adolescents, and adults. Throughout this article, I reflect upon his life’s work and its influence on theorists such as Anna Freud, Donald Winnicott, and Michael Balint. Case illustrations capture the significant contributions that Sandor Ferenczi has made to the field of psychoanalysis with specific emphasis on “The Confusion of Tongues” trauma theory.
