Abstract

The current investigation explored the impact of tin (Sn) doping at various concentrations on the physical and optoelectronic characteristics of silver sulfide (Ag2S) nanostructures synthesized through the ultrasonication method. Their capability as a photodetector was also assessed. The findings indicated an increase in crystallite size and lattice strain. Microscopic images depicted that the introduction of Sn concentrations reduced the size of Ag2S nanostructures while preserving their spherical morphology. Results demonstrated increasing of absorption intensity and carrier concentrations with addition of Sn concentrations. The analysis of current-voltage curves elucidated the charge transport mechanism. Additionally, the optoelectronic properties evolved, revealing that Sn doping enhances the quality parameters of Ag2S nanostructures, rendering it a more effective self-powered photodetector in the solar spectrum.
