Abstract
It is shown that once the hadron-nucleus scattering problem has been solved, the hadronic atom level shifts and widths can be extracted by continuing the $S$ matrix below threshold.NUCLEAR REACTIONS $S$-matrix theory, hadronic atom complex level shift calculated and correlated with scattering parameters.
