Abstract
The study by Murphy et al1 concerning the effect of small-dose dexamethasone on the quality of recovery scores (QoR-40)2 after elective cardiac surgery was presented at a recent journal club within my department. There was much interest in the possibility that a drug, such as dexamethasone, could improve a patient's QoR-40 scores, and a lively discussion ensued during which several points were raised that deserve further comment.
