Abstract
Model predictive torque control (MPTC) is a widely used control scheme for induction motor drives due to its quick dynamic response, intuitive nature, and flexibility to integrate constraints. Conventional PI-based MPTC is used to minimize the torque ripples but unable to address the robust and accurate tracking of speed. In this paper, SMC based MPTC scheme is proposed that combines the properties of SMC and Model Predictive Control (MPC) providing a robust and flexible system that improves the tracking performance and torque ripple minimization.
