Abstract

Based on archival documents and an autobiography, the author describes the life and work of the first president of the Ural Regional Court Nikolai Vasilyevich Zhiryakov. His career growth from a regimental clerk to the head of the Yekaterinburg Provincial Revolutionary Tribunal and the first president of the Yekaterinburg Provincial Court is investigated. The article considers the historical surroundings of the Civil War and the court formation in the first years of Soviet rule.
