Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients often have unexplained skeletal muscle dysfunction,is the most common type of skeletal muscle atrophy, skeletal muscle atrophy can affect the respiratory muscle and peripheral muscle function in patients with COPD,athletic ability and health status and prognosis.Formation mechanism of COPD skeletal muscle dysfunction is very complex, and nutrition metabolism, systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction and other factors.A growing body of evidence suggests that COPD patients with mitochondrial dysfunction may play an important role in skeletal muscle atrophy,it may inhibit peroxisome proliferators activated receptors, activation of oxidative stress, the way such as electron transport chain abnormal changes of skeletal muscle oxidative ability. In this paper, the performance of COPD skeletal muscle dysfunction and the role of mitochondria in it. Key words: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Skeletal muscle dysfunction; Mitochondria
