Abstract
This article discusses how to properly select the right water meter, including sizing it, for the customer. The article discusses how the engineer should use utility‐approved meter manufacturer's specifications to determine pressure loss, range of accuracy, and capacity. Topics covered include: distribution of flow rates; positive displacement meters; fire line meters; turbine‐plate strainers; and meter arrangements for fire services. Several AWWA Manuals and Standards are called out as references.
