Abstract

Ceria-Lanthana solid solution (CLSS) demonstrates excellent catalytic activity due to its redox behaviour and bulk oxygen mobility. The present work deals with the size controlled preparation of CLSS by modified co-precipitation method. The formation of oxides was confirmed by TGA and FTIR studies. The oxides of CLSS were sintered at 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 °C and characterised using SEM, EDAX, XRD, BET surface area analyser and UV-Visible spectrophotometer to ascertain the optimal sintering temperature of the size controlled nanoparticles.
