Abstract

Visually challenged people may face many ordeals in their day-to-day commute. This hardship gets even more challenging when they commute in unknown terrain. This research aims to provide a techno-solution for the visually impaired person in different indoor, outdoor and crowded scenarios. Both stationary and slow-moving objects are considered for the present work. Four ultrasonic sensors are placed in the waist-bag belt, each facing four different directions, namely front, right, rear, and left, to detect stationary and incoming obstacles. The output of the sensors is processed and provided as a stimulus (vibration) to the glove (fingers). Ultrasonic sensors and vibration motors are powered through a power bank. The ultrasonic sensors and power bank are together placed in the waist-bag belt, thus ensuring convenience in usage and commute.
