Abstract
This chapter outlines the synthesis and reactions of six-membered arsenic heterocycles with heteroatoms published mostly in the period 1995–2006. A literature survey for this chapter showed that little work had been done in this area in comparison with studies on nitrogen analogs. Although the chemistry of six-membered arsenic heterocycles with heteroatoms is restricted mainly to oxa-, thia-, aza-, phospha-, and diarsinines, during the last decade, six-membered arsenic heterocycles with boron, aluminium, gallium, indium, silicon, tin, lead, and selenium atoms have appeared in the literature. Accordingly, these heterocyclic ring systems have been included in this chapter. Further, new developments in the chemistry of more common six-membered arsenic heterocycles containing oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, and phosphorus atoms have been dealt with in detail.
