Abstract

Abstract Interest in electronic standards has started to grow; however, most librarians still do not really understand these standards or why they should be concerned with learning more about them. This article introduces readers who are unfamiliar with electronic standards terms, such as those in the title, to this new language; and it provides background information for those who may recognize the terms but may not be aware of the relationships involved. All will learn more about the activities and recent progress of an important group of serials professionals working to support serials standards as well as what these standards mean to all involved in the serials industry.
