Abstract

The singular part, proportional to the delta -function of the momenta difference, of the dipole matrix element between two states of the continuous spectrum of an electron in the static field of the many-electron atom is calculated. This term is important in processes where photon emission takes place in the intermediate (virtual) state. The formulae obtained are applied to the evaluation of the two-photon bremsstrahlung cross section.
