Abstract

In this study, we focus on a small interface edge crack along the interface between orthotropic dissimilar materials. The stress intensity factor of a small interface crack is considered to be strongly dominated by the singular stress field at the interface edge. The analysis of stress intensity factor of small edge crack is performed by changing the crack length, interface angle and the material combination. The usefulness of the material combination parameters, such as Dundurs parameter, is shown in the numerical analysis. In the numerical results, the dimensionless stress intensity factor of small interface crack in orthotropic bonded plate can be expressed by using the dimensionless coefficients depending on the material combination parameters. By using the stress intensity factor of small interfacial crack, it is possible to estimate the interface strength of the jointed dissimilar orthotropic materials .
