Abstract
This paper proposes a new decoupling method for time domain analysis of four-parallel transmission lines, and then proposes a novel single-terminal time domain fault location scheme for temporary arcing faults. By studying on the fault transient characteristic of arc based on the Mayr model, and using Bergeron line transmission equation to calculate voltage wave of the points along the line, the fault location scheme can be realized by searching a point at which the voltage waveform is most similar to the fault arc. Owing to taking the distribution of line parameters into account and having no need of any optimization algorithm, which has good convergence property, the proposed scheme is easy and reliable. At last, the proposed method is validated by simulation used ATP/EMTP.
