Abstract

Front Cover: Silver is recognized to reduce the proliferation of different bacteria classes. In the number 2100596 by Valentina Bertana and co-workers, a new process to prepare 3D-printed devices with antibacterial properties is reported. A photo-polymerizable blend is prepared by adding silver nitrate (AgNO3) in biocompatible PEGDA and photoinitiator. Increasing laser fluency after resin polymerization allows the triggering of silver salts reduction, which causes silver nanoparticles nucleation and growth. Both polymerization and reduction are performed in the same stereolithography 3D printer. At the end, Ag-patterned devices able to prevent bacteria proliferation are obtained.
