Abstract: An overview of the theory of operation of a single stage CCFL backlight resonant inverter that reduces component count and maintains power efficiency. Contains a design tutorial, including equations and circuit equivalents. Provides recommendations for PWM dimming methods to minimize “thermometer effects”. Provides schematics and results of the circuit design to demonstrate design feasibility.
