Abstract
It is a pleasure to be here in Copenhagen and participate in this Conference on Perspectives in Nuclear Structure. I hope that I will be able to convey to you the excitement and vitality that I feel is currently present in the high-spin physics area of nuclear structure. I will try to give some perspective on single-particle motion at high spins, although I hope also to discuss some forefront topics later in the talk. Toward this end I have divided the talk into three main parts: the first being a reminder of some of the basics of high-spin physics; the second, a description of one of the key developments that opened the high-spin area; and the last, a discussion of two topics that represent open questions today.
