Abstract

The SU 3 symmetry of the fermion dynamical symmetry model is shown to be essentially unbroken, even by highly nondegenerate spherical single-particle energies. Thus, it is expected that symmetry-limit results obtained in the FDSM will survive the inclusion of realistic single-particle energies for both normal and superdeformation.
